Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study
(YES) Program scholarships, fully funded scholarships for Matric and O-Level
students in Pakistan to study at American High Schools in USA and live with
American host families for one year. Youth Exchange and Study program is funded
by the US government and is open for secondary school students in 39 countries.
High School students will be enrolled
for one full academic in Americal schools in US, and may also be able to par[1]cipate in co-curricular and
extra-curricular acvies to develop a full understanding of American culture by
interacng with Americans. Since 2003, the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and
Study (YES) program has provided scholarships to 1,274 high school students
from all over Pakistan.
Last date to apply for the YES program is October 20, 2020.

is fully sponsored and the scholarship covers all major costs like Airfare

ELIGIBILITY
CRITERIA for Youth Exchange and Study YES program USA
Pakistani ci zen residing in Pakistan
Studetns enrolled in 9th or 10th grade or ‘O’ Levels
students. (O’ Level 11th graders are not eligible)
Minimum 15 years of age and not older
than 17 years on August 1, 2021. (born between 1 August 2004
to 1 August 2006)
Minimum 60% marks in all major/core
subjects (English, Mathemacs, Sciences) in the last examinaon; overall minimum
average 60% marks for the past three years. (Students
with a gap year or a repeated year are not eligible.)
Can communicate in English. Minimum 60%
marks in English exam during the past three years (2017-18,
2018-19, and 2019-20).
Have not traveled to the United States.
Note: Minimum 60% marks in all subjects
in the examinaon that will be held before departure to the U.S.A. (The annual
exams that will be held in 2021). Students will be required to send their mark
sheets of the last examinaon when they receive the mark sheets.
Students
who meet the following in addion to the above criteria are likely to be short
listed for the final round of selec(on.
Pass Entry Test.
Know and pracce Pakistani culture and values, and able to
represent the same in the U.S. schools and communies.
Demonstrate maturity, flexibility, adaptability, good
character and scholasc aptude.
Willingness to parcipate in host family’s daily life.
Record of all necessary immunizaons, as outlined in the
Final Student Applicaon, before arriving in the U.S.A.
Demonstrate flexibility and a commitment to promoung
cross-cultural understanding.
Agreement to aend classes as a full-ome student and
maintain at least a ‘B’ Grade average in American high school.
Willingness and agreement to abide by the ‘YES Student
Rules’ as outlined in the YES Final Applicaon and all other rules and policies
during the program.

How to
apply for Youth Exchange and Study program for Study in USA
STEP-1 Preliminary
Applicaon
Students who fulfill the Selecoon
Criteria and agree to the Parent Student Agreement and General Program Rules
can apply for the scholarship. They can download the Preliminary Applicaons
from www.yespk.org (hp://www.yespk.org/)
and send the documents through courier
SIE o ce. Female students, students with physical disabilies and students from
non-elite and government schools who meet the criteria are strongly encouraged
to 52
apply.
Shares
Students who are eligible according to the Selecoon Criteria but their
schools are not interested in forwarding the YES Preliminary Applicaons
can courier their applicaons independently.
STEP-2 Entry Test:
A
er inival Preliminary Applicaon screening, short listed applicants will be nofied for YES Orientaon and Entry Test through leers and/or e-mails to their addresses menoned in the Preliminary Applicaons. (SIE is not responsible for wrong / incomplete or change in addresses.)
STEP-3 Interview and
Group Ac vity:
Students who pass the Entry Test will be
nofied via leers for appearing in interview and group acvity.
Students will be required to fill up YES
Final Applicaon (aached with the leer) and appear in Interviews. (Students are
required to appear on the interview day with completely filled YES Final
Applicaon along with required documents.)
STEP-4 Standardized
English language test for internaonal students:
Short listed students aer the interviews
will be required to take a standardized English language test for internaonal
students.
STEP-5 Final Evaluaon:
Final selecoon of students will be based
on Entry Test, Interviews and neatly filled completed YES Final Applicaon with
all required documents.
The finalists will be noofied by a leer and Scholarship
Acceptance form from the YES program o ce.

Important Note:
Providing any false/forged documents or informaon or any discrepancy found at
any stage of selecon process will result in disqualificaon of the applicant.
